More and more states are legalizing cannabis (yay Nevada!) and the humble pot leaf lends itself to numerous new, more bespoke interpretations, as it slowly makes its way into mainstream culture. It has always inspired Art and Fashion, and the latest designers to look to cannabis for inspiration are Creatures of the Wind, who teamed up with System Magazine to create an elegant weed-inspired Capsule Collection.
System’s latest issue which has a cannabis theme, features Juergen Teller’s cover shot of supermodel Raquel Zimmermann wearing the hand embroidered fur coat at Marley Natural’s hydroponics lab in Vancouver.
Drawing on these visuals, the capsule collection is comprised of four styles, (already being sold exclusively at LA boutique Just One Eye, online at Farfetch.com and launches tonight at Colette, Paris) and includes parkas, fur coats, one-of-a-kind vintage sweaters and t-shirts that are adorned with intricate botanical embroidery, all done entirely by hand which means each piece is completely unique.
And to take the ‘Green’ element one step further, all the base pieces are vintage wares that Gabier and Peters sourced and repurposed themselves.
Peters says of the collaboration, “Marijuana has historically been a symbol of freedom, creativity, and acceptance; it’s been great working with System Magazine, true champions of these ideals.”
Alexia Niedzielski, Co-Founder of System magazine says, “It was wonderful to work with Creatures of the Wind’s talented designers Shane and Chris. They perfectly captured our approach of smoking weed in couture!” We couldn’t agree more!
Elizabeth von Guttman, Co-Founder, System magazine adds, “It was such a pleasure working with Shane and Chris on this project. They captured the essence of our story in the last issue of System magazine. Playful and indulgent.”
We love this infusion of ‘relaxed’ meets ‘chic’ – this is exactly the kind of subtle stoner-wear we’re rooting for!
